Frans Hals

Frans Hals (1580-1666)
was een van de meest bepalende schilders van de 17de eeuw. Zo’n 50 sleutelwerken zijn te zien op zijn tentoonstelling in het Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Bewonder de stijl van Frans Hals, die even los als levendig was.

Extraordinarily productive, innovative, entertaining and a little rough around the edges: Frans Hals was one of a handful of painters who defined the 17th century.
His distinctive, freewheeling style of painting became very influential.

Berseriks werk werd aanvankelijk gekenmerkt door stilte en iets raadselachtigs. De toeschouwer is voortdurend op zoek naar iets dat niet in de voorstelling is te zien. In zijn latere, veel losser geschilderde landschappen en kustgezichten verraden de onmiskenbare tekenen van verval in de voorstelling de nostalgie van een ouder wordende kunstenaar.

 Berserik's work was initially characterized by silence and something mysterious. The spectator is constantly looking for something that cannot be seen in the image. In his later, much more loosely painted landscapes and coastal views, the unmistakable signs of decay in the depiction betray the nostalgia of an aging artist.
